Habitat and Substrate: Moist woodland, on trees, especially conifers; occasionally on moss-covered rocks.

Rhode Island Status: Collected once on thin moss over granite.

Pollution Tolerance: Considered sensitive to acid rain.

Collection Site(s): Headwaters of Wood River, West Greenwich (#5122).

Notes: Reported previously in Rhode Island by Bennett (1888).
