Habitat and Substrate: Exposed to partial shade, on soil.

Rhode Island Status: Collected once.

Pollution Tolerance: Unknown.

Collection Site(s): Matunuck Hills Area, South Kingstown (#4989).

Notes: This is one of several closely related species in the Cladonia chlorophaea group that are nearly indistinguishable in appearance, but differ in chemistry. Previous reports for Rhode Island have not been verified.
