PUBLISHER'S INTRODUCTION AND GUIDE
How to use this publication The upper right corner of each page contains navigation arrows and links to alternate versions of the current page in view:
Click on the pdf icon to load a high-resolution pdf version of the current page. The pdf files contain 300dpi photographs and 600dpi line art, and can be as large as 700k, so be wary if your connection to the internet is slow. Requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Click on the printer icon to load a "printer-friendly" version of the current page in a new window. This is a plain HTML version designed so that nothing will be cut off when you print it, and is a good choice to print out something quickly for reference or if your connection to the internet is slow.
Click on the left and right arrows to move forward and back through the pages in the book.
Click on any photo or map to see a larger version in a new window.
Use the links in the gray box on the right to return to the table of contents (Contents) or to this page (Publisher's intro) at any time. Follow the other links to different webpages of the Rhode Island Natural History Survey and its publications programs. If you like what we're doing, please visit the project support page (Project support) to help us continue this program.
Order on CD Complete copies of this manuscript in a single high-resolution pdf file are available on CD for $10. The CD version is essentially a compilation of the individual pdf files provided here. As a single file, the CD version is more convenient to search and print out. We are not able to provide this file online because of its large size (80 mb). To order online using a credit card, please click on the
button below.
Publication history and acknowledgements
This is the first publication of the RINHS
Web Publications program, a project first contemplated in
May of 2002. Thanks are first due to Don Flenniken for his excellent
manuscript, his important contributions to our knowledge of local
lichens, and his interest in the Web Publications program. More
about Don and his work can be found online at http://www.backroadlichens.com.
Thanks are also due to the Science
Editors Company - Cryptogamic
Botany Company for donating the publication design system
and templates. Eric Roberts contributed to the initial publication
design and Kate Herman adapted Don's manuscript for this medium.
Thanks to the RINHS Board of Directors and to Lisa Gould for enthusiastic
support of this project.
