BioBlitz Teams
To help improve the number and breadth of taxa counted at the Rhode Island BioBlitzes, to ease the species tallying task, and to help build up the spirit of the event, we’ve been organizing participants into teams since the 2008 BioBlitz at the Grills Preserve in Westerly. This initiative has been a great success.
The teams are loosely based on taxonomic reporting categories, but tempered with a good deal of practicality, as we don’t expect ever to have anyone qualified to captain a Concentricycloidea team. It’s a work in progress, changing as registrations come in, but if you’d like to get a gander at our latest list of Teams and see where you might fit in, CLICK HERE.
The taxonomic reporting categories are listed in order to simplify data collection at bioblitz and reduce chance of double counting when things are reported at different taxonomic levels. This is not meant to be either comprehensive or to follow some accepted taxonomy. It’s pretty cool to see how things have been broken down by scientists and interesting to imagine all the weird stuff out there and how many eons it’s been there doing its thing. Download the current reporting taxonomy for the animals as an MS Excel file.
